I am a freelance oral historian based in Wellington, New Zealand. I record people from all walks of life talking about their everyday experiences now and in the past. A recording of the spoken voice adds an extra dimension to written recollections by preserving how people speak, their language and vocabulary and particular way of conveying meaning, and for insights into how people describe and reflect on their experiences. Oral history methodology can be used for full length life histories, topic based histories and also for recording contemporary events and experiences. Recordings have many uses now and in the future for books, exhibitions, podcasts or websites and as a source for research.
My blog has short notes about oral history and related fields.
